JENNIFER DIPALO-FOLEY
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and moved to the Hudson Valley in 2013. I’m married with two children and absolutely love the Hudson Valley area. I’m a licensed mental health therapist by trade and have worked in healthcare and not-for-profit organizations for over 20+ years. I love community, and I love helping people and hearing their stories. I’m a novice home baker who took the giant leap to open my small business. I love food and how it brings people together, and doughnuts have always been the perfect sharing food.
why the doughnut dolly
During World War II, the courageous women known as “doughnut dollies” played a vital role in boosting soldiers’ morale on the front lines. These dedicated volunteers, often part of the American Red Cross, brought a sense of comfort by serving freshly baked doughnuts to weary service members. Their presence and tasty treats provided a brief respite from the hardships of war, reminding soldiers of the comforts of home and lifting their spirits in the midst of adversity.
My business aims to boost the morale of my community through my baking. While I am no longer working in the field of therapy, I believe that food can be a unique form of treatment, where the simple act of savoring flavors can bring joy and nourishment, providing a healing experience for both body and soul.
